One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is the time and space for healing and growth. In therapy, my goal is to help you find and nurture your authentic nature, and to honor the wisdom gained from your lived experiences.
Our work will consider the various intersecting aspects of your identity and the social, professional, and other cultural contexts in which you exist. I believe that as you experience yourself holistically, on your own and with guidance, you can naturally open yourself to more opportunities for healing, connection, growth, and other meaningful change.
My work is guided by Mindfulness, CBT, Somatic Experiencing, Family Systems, and existential and psychodynamic perspectives. I am also trained in EMDR for anxiety, depression, and trauma. I work with my clients to identify the interventions that feel richest and most appropriate for them, particularly as they resonate with my clients’ values and culture. I am a certified clinical trauma professional.
While I enjoy working with a diverse range of adolescent and adult clients, most of my social advocacy has focused on Older Adults, LGBTQIA2S+ and PLWHIV. I have directly served TGNC/2S, LGB, Kinky, Poly, and Queer people and communities for over a decade. I have worked directly with organizations and individuals within the Japanese-American and Japanese Expat communities, and I have experience working with many individuals belonging to Black and Latino communities. I speak Japanese and Spanish. I strive to study and reflect on how my work can grow to be more inclusive and anti-oppressive and I make a point to learn more about concepts that support collective liberation in my work and advocacy.
