You don’t need to fix it right now

How to sit with uncertainty, stress, and emotional discomfort without rushing to fix or escape it.

Humans are used to fixing or escaping uncomfortable feelings as quickly as possible. Oddly enough, sometimes it helps to just let them be there for a moment.

That might look like sitting with restless energy instead of automatically turning on a show or noticing your mind spiraling about the future and gently bringing it back to what is in front of you. Maybe you feel the urge to text someone for reassurance, and you choose to pause. Even simply naming what you are feeling, like “I am overwhelmed” or “this feels uncertain,” can take some of the intensity out of it.

You do not have to like what you are feeling. The point is reminding yourself that you can handle it. Over time, these small steps of staying present start to add up, and so will your ability to sit with tough moments.
