I received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with a counseling specialization from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and have been practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor for seven years.I enjoy working with children and adolescents ages 5-18, adults and families experiencing difficulty with anxiety, depression, mood concerns, trauma, grief/loss, life transitions, and issues with self-esteem. I also have extensive experience working with individuals diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and Autism Spectrum.

I believe in understanding and treating the whole person and creating an open, safe and empathic space to explore and work collaboratively towards achieving the changes desired. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT) , Adlerian and mindfulness based techniques to help you identify, understand and work through underlying issues and to develop concrete and creative coping skills to help you flourish and function and live your best and most healthy life.

I strongly believe there is no one size fits all when it comes to helping you reach your goals. Our work together will be a creative collaboration, to encourage and inspire the self towards growth in all areas of life. In addition to my clinical experience, I am a certified yoga instructor and incorporate my training and expertise in the therapeutic space as a mind, body and soul connection through movement and meditation.

I have extensive training in Domestic Violence and trauma informed care. Additional experience involves volunteer work and training for thirteen years at a crisis hotline for adolescents and young adults.

Please feel free to email me at mblack@mqatherapy.com for any questions or to schedule an appointment. I look forward to meeting you!

Outside of work I enjoy baking, movie nights with my little loves, binge watching shows with my partner, family time outdoors, yoga, kickboxing and am a waterslide, waterpark, high dive junkie! And a great mani and pedi make me smile anytime!
